2013 Lexus LS460 4-DR Sedan

Lexus loaned me one of the most luxurious vehicles I have ever driven. Starfire Pearl exterior, upgraded semianiline leather trim interior and Alcantara headliner was complemented by the genuine wood/aluminum interior trim and Hollow Chamber 18” aluminum alloy wheels with liquid graphite finish. The Lexus style was prevalent from the signature front grill, LED headlamps with intelligent high-beams and washers, heated leather and wood steering wheel, climate comfort front seats, power rear sunshade, one touch open/close power tilt and slide moonroof, heated outboard rear seats and the style continued right through to the one touch open/close power trunk at the rear of the vehicle.

I had the opportunity to travel from Northern Utah to Eastern Utah for some quality seat time. The LS460 has a 4.6 liter 380 horse power four cam 32 valve V8 engine with electronically controlled intake valve timing providing plenty of power to pass other vehicles on the many stretches of two lane highways. The 8-speed sequential automatic transmission with full time all-wheel drive and limited slip enables a fuel efficiency of 16 city MPG and as much as 23 highway MPG. From Logan to Vernal, Utah, I experienced a fuel efficiency average as high as 25 MPG.

While driving over the many mountain passes and two lane highways of rural Utah the lack of an FM radio signal is abundant and very frustrating when driving long distances. The Mark Levinson 19 speaker with single DVD/CD player controlled by steering wheel controls or through the very large high resolution 12.3 inch screen with remote touch interface plays a very crisp and deep quality sound. Commercial free music can easily be accessed either through the SiriusXM signal, Bluetooth compatible device with other satellite radio options or an MPS mobile music device plugged in through the USB audio port.

I’m glad I’ve never had to truly test the safety features of the cars I have driven, but there is comfort in knowing that Lexus pays close attention to the safety of the driver and passengers within their vehicles. The advanced airbag system includes a front passenger twin-chamber airbag, knee, front and rear side curtain airbags throughout the vehicle. The smart stop technology, blind spot monitor system with rear cross traffic alert and backup camera assists the driver in being as safe as possible while traveling. Just like the driver and passenger are protected, Lexus offers Safety Connect with automatic collision notification, stolen vehicle location, emergency assist button (SOS) and enhanced roadside assistance along with a tool kit and an emergency first aid kit within the vehicle.
