This week’s test drive featured a Moonlight White exterior and Stone color interior with genuine silver powder accents enhancing the Japanese White Ash wood trim and suede-like headliner enabled an outstanding driving experience.
The M35 high performance Hybrid comes with a 3.5 liter V6 Infiniti Direct Response Hybrid System with 360 horsepower and 258 lb-ft or torque or even 199 lb-ft of torque with the electric motor. It is rear wheel drive with a 7-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. The Infiniti Drive Mode Selector can be used to select eco, snow, standard or sport driving modes depending on road and traveling conditions or the driver’s desires. While traveling to Salt Lake City and back in this M series car, I could use the power in sport mode for a little fun or get as high as 35 MPG in the eco driving mode.
Thanks to Infiniti, the model I was loaned to test drive had over $12K in upgraded options. Some of the technology features that comes with the “base” M35 Hybrid model includes approaching vehicle sound for pedestrians, rear view monitor system, USB and Bluetooth hands free connectivity, 7” color vehicle display, SiriusXM satellite radio, rain-sensing windshield wipers, power folding autodim heated outside mirrors with reverse tilt down feature and a Hybrid power/charge meter. Again, these are all options that come at no additional cost.
Now, let me describe some of the premium and deluxe touring technology packages that are included within the “As Driven” price listed below. I’ll start with a few acronyms – BSW, BSI, LDW, LDP, ICC, DCA, IBA, FCW and I can’t forget about the AFS. Activating a lot of these features assist the driver in many ways to the point that the car almost drives itself. Let me explain; Blind Spot Intervention (BSI) and Blind Spot Warning (BSW) will alert you with warning lights that are located on the inside of both the driver and passenger doors next to the mirrors and restricts you from changing lanes. Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) will audibly warn the driver when crossing over from one lane to another without indicating and will also restrict the vehicle from departing outside of the lane of travel by restricting the steering wheel. Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) and Distance Control Assist (DCA) will keep a specified distance between any vehicles traveling in front of the M35 and will safely accelerate or brake according to the flow of traffic and predetermined cruise control setting. The Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) and Forward Collision Warning (FCW) will help prevent the vehicle from potential accidents. And finally, the Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS) will direct the bi-functional xenon headlights in the same direction the vehicle is traveling while heading straight or around corners.
The Deluxe and Premium packages also include the Forest Air system allowing the perfect mixture of outside and inside air through the ventilating system and climate controlled heated and cooled front seats. The Bose digital 5.1 channel 16 speaker premium audio system with speakers throughout the vehicle including the four seat speakers located on either side of the headrests top off the driving experience.
As far as I’m concerned, Infiniti has made technology, performance, comfort and luxury a top priority and is exhibited in the M35 Hybrid.
Visit an Infiniti dealer and ask them about a similar driving experience.
